Wiley Education Services

I began working for Wiley Education Services in 2019. With a focus on inbound marketing content development, production, and ultimately management, I have contributed a number of assets for different clients as part of our team’s overarching campaign to generate prospective student interest (leads) through competitive SEM marketing. Through my different roles, I have worked closely with SEO analysts to implement high-ranking keywords in compelling digital content.

Below is a brief preview into the work I’ve helped lead throughout my time with the company.

As Senior Content Specialist

When I joined Wiley’s Online Lead Marketplace, I was still a copywriter. But in this new department, I began contributing copy across the company’s vast portfolio of degree aggregate websites.

Shortly after my move, though, I was promoted to a senior content specialist position, where I was charged with assembling a team of contract writers to deliver the same kind of content I was already familiar with producing.

In one specific initiative with the company, I managed the strategizing, production, and execution of topic-driven content based on interviews I held with university faculty members. Here are some examples of those engagements:

As Editorial Blog Writer

The Link Between Social Media and Body Image - King University

This article was part of our overall campaign focused on the psychology of social media. For this campaign, I wrote a sprawling guide that highlighted the online B.S. in Psychology offered by the university, and this piece acted as a supplemental article to generate SEO value for both the guide and the major.

This article ultimately helped create additional SEO value when it was, some months later, organically linked in an article by Forbes (which features a series of the creepiest photo captions I’ve ever read).

To Post or Not to Post? Social Media for Small Business - Point Park University

This was my first article written for this company. The campaign centered on boosting the profile of the university’s online M.A. in Communication Technology. I particularly like working with this client, because it values vibrant language with a less-serious tone. As an aside, I especially liked the freedom I had with this project in celebrating one of my favorite brands: Big Bud Press!

Vocabulary Development for Striving Readers - Lesley

I would classify this client as having a specific set of needs. They’re really particular about what they want, and they’ve often sent back multiple drafts asking for minor changes. This article was accepted after different rounds of revision, and it highlights the university’s MEd in Language and Literacy. I only chose to include this article because it focuses on a topic that resonates with me.

Teacher Strategies for Remembering Student Names: Advancement Courses

I have loved writing articles for this client. Advancement Courses is an organization that offers professional development courses that cover an array of issues and subjects, ranging from cyberbullying, to the history of timezones, to science experiments to help teach climate change, and finally to remembering student names. The articles I’ve written for this organization are designed to educate teachers about a certain topic and then provide links to courses taught by AC.

As Programmatic Content Writer

Outside of my experience writing editorial articles for these different universities and programs, I’ve produced program copy for different program launches. Below is an example of my contribution to George Mason University’s online MA in Economics.

George Mason University’s Online MA in Economics

This program launched early in 2020. The language was a major departure from the editorial / inbound position I’d become more familiar with over the past six months, but I still enjoyed the challenge. In addition to the landing page I wrote for the major, I also wrote ad copy to feature in different spaces across multiple channels. After some rounds of internal revision, the bundled copy was enthusiastically accepted by the partner.
